Ramblings of a Confused Guy

It all started on June 21, 2023. I had just finished one of my last days at work and now it was time to use up some vacation time. I hopped on a plane heading for Fresno California where my sister and her family live. My flight was from Toronto to Fresno through Denver. Everything was on time but the distance between the arrival gate and departure gate in Denver was at the next terminal and at the other end of the building. Needless to say I put lots of steps in that day! The flights were good and the service was very nice in fact the attendant on my second leg gave me a free snack because the credit machine wasn’t working. Seated in front of my was a family with a two month old. I have been on a lot of flights with babies and this baby was incredibly quiet the whole time. Thankfully!

My sister recently moved back to California from Washington State, but have been living here for over 20 years. She has three sons who are all married and two of them have kids. She has a total of 5 grandkids and I was very excited to meet my great niece and great nephews for the very first time. We had a family BBQ on the Friday evening and it was great to see and meet everyone. It was also my first time meeting my nephews wife. What a beautiful family. My nephew is a police officer and I was able to see his car and all his gear including his SWAT equipment. WOW… you see it on TV but when you actually see those rifles in person it is…real!

It’s been a relaxing time here with my sister and her husband. We have had some great talks and a “few” tears, which is never a bad thing. It has been really nice to eat dinner on the patio each evening. I have been helping out as much as I can because my sister is currently working long days. A couple times I have made sure dinner is in the oven and today I pruned some shrubs for her and her husband. It is just good to be together.

Family can be challenging at time but it is good to focus on the positive and make the best out of each moment together.  My sisters and I were very close growing up and it is nice too feel that connection again.
